This rope bosal is built in much the same way as the nose part of a rope halter, with double 6 mm (1/4") ropes and a fiador knot under the chin with loops that the reins attaches to. There are two length options to choose from for the rein loops: the standard length (6-8 cm / 2 ⅜ - 3 ⅛" depending on the size of the bosal) works well if you plan to use the bosal with
loop or split reins, while extra long loops (10 cm / 4") are suitable if you want to be able to tie a mecate rein to the loops. The bosal is braided all the way around, including where the bridle will sit, to make it firm and as similar to a traditional rawhide bosal as possible. Since it is made of rope it is however pliable at the same time and shapes itself according to the horse.
There are 2 braid patterns to choose from, as shown in the pictures. The braiding can be done with 2 colors for the pattern to be visible but if you rather want solid-colored braiding, simply choose the same color for braid color 1 and 2 in the options above. You can also choose if you want a different braiding color only on the front nose part or on the sides as well.
