Quick halters (also known as catch halters, fire or emergency halters) are a simple type of rope halter with a halter and a lead rope made of one continuous piece of rope. These halters are quick and easy to put on and take off and can be useful when turning out your horse, in critical situations (for example a fire) and other occasions when you are in a hurry. They are however not suitable as training tools, for such purposes it is better to use other types of rope halters.
The quick halters I make are fully adjustable to fit all types of horses so they only come in one size. The halter has a knot that you can move to easily adjust the length of the noseband and the rest of the halter adjusts to your horse when you put it on. How long the lead rope end becomes depends on how big your horse's head is. On a horse that wears X-full sized halters the lead rope will be approximately 2 m (7 ft) long, on smaller horses somewhat longer and on larger horses somewhat shorter. Thanks to their adjustability, quick halters can also be used for cattle, sheep and other animals.
There are 2 rope dimensions to choose from: 10 mm (3/8") is suitable for ponies, small horses and other animals of similar size, whereas 14 mm (9/16") fits larger horses best. The black halter in the first picture is made out of 14 mm rope.
The lead rope end of the halter has a braided end knot that can be made in 2 different patterns (se the picture "Knot pattern") and with 2 colors for the knot pattern to be visible. If you rather want a solid-colored end knot, simply choose the same color for knot color 1 and 2 in the options above.
