About the rope
Pilgrimsrep's products are made of polyester rope, a very durable material that can withstand a lot of weight which makes it ideal for horse tack. It is also easy to clean and requires practically no maintenance, unlike leather. That is why I have chosen to not use leather at all for my products, as I consider polyester rope to have so many advantages compared to leather.
One of the few "disadvantages" of polyester rope could, depending on how you see it, be that it is too
durable. If a horse wearing tack made of polyester rope gets caught on something, tries to break loose when tied up or anything like that, the tack will most likely not break and can cause serious injuries. Therefore you should never leave a horse unsupervised with rope tack on, you should for example not turn out your horse in a rope halter and I also do not recommend tying up your horse with a rope halter in a trailer since it might be difficult to intervene quickly if something were to happen.
Colors and dimensions
Rope halters, bridles and similar items are made of 6 mm rope, which is just slightly thinner than 1/4 inch rope and comes in 13 different colors: black, brown, tan, yellow, orange, red, burgundy, pink, purple, navy blue, blue, green and hunter green. (Please note that the colors might look slightly different in real life.)
For lead ropes, reins and so on you can choose between 10 and 14 mm rope depending on if you prefer a somewhat thinner and lighter rope or a thicker and heavier one. The 10 mm rope is slightly thicker than 3/8 inch rope whereas the 14 mm rope is just slightly thinner than 9/16 inch rope and both of these dimensions currently come in 4 colors: black, red, blue and green.
All the ropes above are so called "double braided" ropes, which means that they consist of a braided outer cover with a braided core inside. This construction gives double braided ropes more weight and "feel" than other types of ropes and enables you to give your horse signals in a clear and effective way.
For decorative knots and other details I use 3 mm rope without an inner core. This rope is just slightly thinner than 1/8 inch rope and comes in 15 different colors: black, brown, tan, silver, white, yellow, orange, red, burgundy, pink, purple, navy blue, blue, green and hunter green. You can find more information about decorative knots and other details made of 3 mm rope on the page About braided knots and other details
Finally I use 1 mm string to whip the tie ends on rope halters, bridles and so on. This very thin string comes in 6 different colors: black, white, yellow, red, blue and green.
